Headworks

This is the headworks of the treatment plant, 35 feet above the main pumps. From this point, gravity pulls wastewater through the rest of the system. Grease, grit, and small objects are removed here from wastewater before it goes on to secondary treatment, where microorganisms are introduced to eat suspended solids.
